Iksong Jin
1960년 生, 홍익대학교 미술대학 서양화과 졸업 후 1988년 도미(渡美) 1992년 뉴욕대학(NYU) 대학원 졸업,
이후 1993년부터 뉴욕 소호(SoHo)에 위치한 펄크럼(Fulcrum)화랑과 전속 계약 후 1998년까지 6년에 걸쳐 작품활동을 했었다.
1996년 주한영국 문화원에서 주관하는 연구장학기금 수상자로 선정되어 96/97년 영국 뉴카슬(Newcastle)지역의 노썸브리아 대학(Northumbria University)에서 방문작가로 영국 현대미술과정을 연구하였다.(Post Doc. Fellow)
그간 한국을 비롯하여 뉴욕과 영국, 일본에서 다수의 개인전 및 구룹전을 가졌고, 2000년 6,7월 뉴욕 소호의 'OK 해리스 갤러리'(OK Harris)에서 초대전을 열었으며 뉴욕화단에 지속적인 작품 발표를 해 오고 있다.

Iksong Jin was born in South Korea in 1960.
After he graduated from Hong-Ik University in Seoul, KOREA,
he moved to New York in 1988 and studied at New York University and he received Masters Degree in 1991.
His works have been exhibited in New York including ‘OK Harris Works of Art’ (383 West Broadway) as well as in Korea, Japan, UK.
Iksong received British Council Grant in 1996-97 and studied at Northumbria University, Newcastle, UK for the Post Doc. Fellow.
He is presently a professor at Fine Arts Dept. at Chungbuk National University in South Korea.

*In the year 2014, he had a sabbatical year and was invited
*from 'The Art Students League of New York' to give lectures.

‘Timeless Door’ Series
In the year 2008, I made some new series of art works at a New York studio, which was titled 'Timeless Door'.
And I sent an email to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York asking about the Airport public art project and introducing my art works.
After that in July 2008, I had an email from a supervisor of JFK.
The Supervisor gave me a chance to give a presentation talking about my idea and the public art project.
So, I could visit the administration building for that early Aug.
At that time I suggested a million watches project for just one public art work.
'Timeless Door' means perpetuity, which refers to 'a perpetual door' or 'an endless door that is piled up forever'.
I think all the airports in this world are doors from one place to another and the passengers pass the door with their own specific times and schedules.
